Safety and urgent help
Some situations need a person who can respond right now.
Bible Real Life can offer spiritual encouragement. It is not an emergency service, pastor, therapist, doctor, lawyer, financial adviser, or substitute for qualified local care.
If someone may be in immediate danger
Call 911 or your local emergency service. Move away from weapons or immediate hazards when you can do so safely, and involve a trusted person who can stay present.
Call 911Suicide or emotional crisis
In the United States, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. The service is available at all hours. In Canada, call or text 9-8-8. If immediate physical safety is at risk, call emergency services.
Domestic violence or coercive control
Abuse is not ordinary conflict. Christian forgiveness, submission, endurance, or confidentiality should never be used to pressure someone to remain in danger or confront an abuser alone. In the United States, the National Domestic Violence Hotline offers confidential help. If someone may monitor your device, use a safer device and consider technology-safety guidance.
Professional care and local church support
A trusted pastor or church leader can be an important source of care, prayer, and practical help. Pastoral support does not replace licensed medical, mental-health, legal, or financial care. In an abuse situation, involve church leadership only when doing so is safe and does not expose the person to pressure or retaliation.
